'A Spring Promise'

'A Spring Promise' by Peter Davies. Original large oil painting on canvas.

A large oil painting on stretched canvas of a landscape portraying a spring day on a heath. The leaves of not grown on the shrubs yet, but we have the first signs of warmth. The sun is low in the sky, it's evening time and the golden light cuts through the bare branches of a shrub towards a path that leads through the woodland. The image attempts to capture both light and dark by contrasting the two extremes of the salmon pink sky against the blues and greens of the landscape. My paintings attempt to capture a moment in time, and a certain atmosphere of tranquility and peace whilst being at one with nature. I am particularly interested in the play of light at certain times of the day, in particular late afternoon and evening.
