'Snow on the Heath'
An original medium sized oil painting on stretched canvas of a winter landscape scene on a heath in snow. Sunlight cascades through bare trees with their skeletal branches and evergreen pines casting long shadows on the snow creating beautiful patterns of light. The air is crisp, and there's bicycle marks in the snow from early morning cyclists. The idea was to capture the play of light through trees in winter sun and how the shadows form on snow, winter light is so different to other times of the year. The sky is often a different kind of blue, and I hoped to capture this with this painting.
